BTJ Provides Urgent Aid to Nigerian Children Orphaned in Bloody Palm Sunday Attack

Muslims slaughtered at least 53 Christians in one of the bloodiest Palm Sundays in recent memory in Nigeria, leaving several children orphaned with nowhere to go.

The gruesome attack took place on Sunday evening in Ungwan Rukuba, a community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau state, Nigeria, when several armed Muslims reportedly opened fire on unarmed residents shouting “Allahu Akbar.” Eyewitnesses claim the attack was planned and coordinated by Boko Haram.

When the dust settled, many people were dead and children were left with nowhere to go. BTJ partnered with local pastors to provide immediate aid to the children who were hit the hardest. BTJ was able to provide help with food, shelter, and school fees for the year.

Islamic groups in Nigeria have shown clear patterns of attacks against Christians during three holy events of the year – Christmas, Easter, and Ramadan. Children continue to be primary victims in these tragic attacks and need prayers from Christians around the world.
