Muslims slaughtered at least 53 Christians on one of the bloodiest Palm Sunday’s in recent memory in Nigeria, but the tragedy continues as orphaned children now fight to survive on their own.
The gruesome attack took place on Sunday evening in Ungwan Rukuba, a community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau state, Nigeria, when several armed Muslims reportedly opened fire on unarmed residents shouting “Allahu Akbar.” Eyewitnesses claim the attack was planned and coordinated by Boko Haram. Many of the survivors were children, some of whom lost both of their parents.
BTJ’s partner in Nigeria is currently working with the children who have survived the massacre and is now providing food.
According to the missionaries on the ground, many of the children do not have enough to eat. This is why BTJ is immediately responding to the need to provide food.
“While I was there,” one partner writes in a text message from Jos Nigeria, “one of the children came back with some beans to mix with rice for all the children to eat. I gave them money to go and buy more and they were so happy.”
The situation is extremely dire for Christians in Nigeria. Please continue to pray.
