More than three dozen Christians were arrested after Chinese officials raided an indoor meeting of Early Rain Covenant Church last weekend, church leaders said Monday in a prayer letter.
According to eyewitness accounts detailed in the letter, police entered the meeting house at around 11:00 a.m. and “took charge” of attendees. A total of 33 believers were reportedly detained by officials. After being loaded onto a police bus, detainees were taken to Jiangyou’s centralized registration and investigation office, where officials questioned them Sunday afternoon and evening. Most were released by Sunday night.
However, Chinese officials are still reportedly holding two church elders: Elder Yan Hong and Elder Wu Wuqing.
The church did release a letter with the full story. You can read the full letter from Early Rain Covenant Church by clicking here.
