Nine Christians leaders were finally released yesterday from a Chinese prison after being detained for 253 days without charges.
On June 18, Zion Christian Church in China reported that several of their leaders that were arrested in the October 9 crackdown were finally released on bail. They have been held without official charges since last year, but have now been released on bail pending their court dates. Those released were Pastor Sun Cong. Brother Liu Jiang, Sister Li Shengjuan, Sister Wei Yunfei, Sister An Mei, Sister Zhan Ge.
BTJ got an early alert from the church as soon as they were released yesterday, but agreed not to share the details until the the church made an official announcement.
These nine prisoners have been held without charges, but are now being suspected of “illegal use of information networks” for sharing about Jesus online.
Several members of the church risked being arrested and gathered together to warmly welcome these nine brothers and sisters back home with flowers and embraces.
However, the situation is bittersweet, as there are nine church leaders that are still in prison, including Pastor Ezra Jin. The nine that are still in prison are Pastor Jin Mingri (Ezra), Pastor Wang Lin (Franklin), Pastor Gao Yingjia (Joshua), Pastor Yin Hubin, Pastor Liu Zhenbin, Pastor Lin Shucheng, Pastor Wang Cong, Elder Wang Zhong. and Sister Wu Qiuyu (Chole).
Those remaining have had their charges changed from “illegal use of information networks” for using holding prayer meetings on-line to “illegal business operations” and “fraud,” for collecting offerings.
Please continue to pray for the church members that are still in prison.
