The United States is closing the Office of Palestinian Affairs after only two years of being open, according to State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.
The OPA was established in 2022 by President Joe Biden to act independently of the US ambassador to Israel’s office. Israel was against the move that was in direct violation to international law.
The hope was that the new office would allow for Palestinian views to be discussed directly to the US, but in practice it did little to stop international aid funds from being redirected to terrorist activities and did nothing to stop the deadly attack and kidnappings on October 7.
After closing the OPA, Palestinian affairs will be done in Jerusalem to restore the framework of a unified US diplomatic mission in Israel’s capital that reports to the US ambassador to Israel, which is currently Ambassador Mike Huckabee, well-known minister and Christian advocate for Israel.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of persecuted Christians from China fly to Israel to show their support for the nation.
