Concern for BTJ Missionaries in Afghanistan After 400 People Die from Pakistan Attack

Afghanistan was bombed by Pakistan yesterday, killing more than 400 people.

Pakistan launched an attack on Afghanistan’s capital city, Kabul, yesterday at about 9 pm (16:30 GMT). Kabul’s 2,000-bed facility, Omar Addiction Treatment Hospital, was hit according to Hamdullah Fitrat, the deputy spokesman for Afghanistan’s Taliban government.

“Unfortunately, the death toll has so far reached 400,” Hamdullah reported, “while around 250 others have been reported injured. Rescue teams are currently at the scene, working to control the fire and recover the remaining bodies of the victims.”

Pakistan has been frustrated with Taliban activities in the border regions between the two countries. Last year, Pakistan began forcefully repatriating all Afghani refugees. Afghanistan and Pakistan militaries exchanged fire along their common border, with four people killed this month in the deadliest fighting between the neighbors in years.

BTJ is currently supporting missionaries in Afghanistan and has not heard from all of them yet. We are asking our partners to pray for the missionaries and Christians of the underground house church in Afghanistan.

  1. We pray and intercede for all conflicts between nations. For Gods protection and wisdom to the leaders of the warring factions.
We pray especially for Pakistan and for its neighbors in Afghanistan. May He bring peace to a troubled land.
