UPDATE: ALL FUNDS FOR THIS EFFORT HAVE BEEN RECEIVED.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.
“Help me find my daughter!” This is the cry of a mother in Afghanistan who was forced to sell her three-year-old daughter last month after the Taliban severely beat her and she could no longer afford to feed herself or her children.
Last week, we received a devastating video of Zahra (not her real name) who recently became a believer. Zahra was about to commit suicide after being severely beaten by the Taliban and forced to sell her daughter in order to survive.
BTJ launched OPERATION RESCUE to find the three-year-old child bride and get the baby back to her mother.
After much prayer and searching, Zahra’s daughter has been found.
UPDATE: This morning (1am, EST) we received a text that read, “Our team met with the village elders…[We] have found the man who purchased the girl and we are sure that she has been sexually abused.”
Efforts are currently taking place to get the child to a safe place, but for security reasons, details cannot be released.
Prayer and support are needed.
Since the Taliban took over two years ago, lack of food has led to extreme starvation. According to Save the Children, almost 8 million children are at dangerous levels of starvation. Many families, like that of Zahra, have resorted to selling their daughters in order to survive. Older men marrying child brides is a common occurrence in Afghanistan.
“Sometimes I hate being a woman and a mother,” Zahra admits, as she struggles with life under the Taliban’s Islamic rule. “I wish I could end my life, because this country is a permanent hell for women and children.”

Hello~
I have not heard of your ministry before, but would like to make sure this child is rescued and returned to her mother. I am curious why you cannot name the amount needed or what has been raised so far? Please let me know any details you are able to and what exactly is needed to return this child at this time. Thank you.

This is a very risky situation for everyone involved in getting her back to her mother. Sharing details can put them in even more risk. If the wrong people saw this an know the exact amount, they could label it to this particular family putting them in immediat danger. We have already reached our goal and will be posting a new article soon to let everyone know. What is needed now is lots of prayers for those who will be going to get her and bring her back to her mother. Prayer is also needed for this little girl, we do not know what all she has gone through. Please pray!
