The Last BTJ Missionary from the 1940s Just Wrote His Autobiography

Wang (not his real name) was only 17 when he set off with his father and some other believers in the 1940s on a vision to preach the Gospel message all the way back to Jerusalem.

He and his father didn’t have car. They didn’t buy a bus ticket. They didn’t board a train. They walked from the East of China all the way to Xinjiang in the west with little more than a Bible in their hands.

They didn’t know where they would sleep or what they would eat, but they trusted in the Lord to supply all their needs. When they arrived in the western most province of Xinjiang in 1949, they were stopped by the newly established Communist border guards who threw all of the believers, including young Wang, into a prison camp.

That was 80 years ago and Wang is now 96 years old. He is the last remaining missionary of the original Back to Jerusalem Traveling Band. In his older age he has passed the vision of Back to Jerusalem to the younger generation and has now finished his autobiography.

The team of Back to Jerusalem just got access to the autobiography in English and it is amazing to think that this is the final autobiography of the original team of Back to Jerusalem missionaries. Wang is the last remaining member with the memories of what happened so many years ago.

As a new generation of thousands of Chinese believers follow in Wang’s footsteps and focus on preaching the Good News to the ends of the earth, it is amazing to read eye witness testimony of the trials, hardships, and miracles that took place so many years ago.

It is not possible to publish the autobiography at this time because of security concerns. If the Chinese government learns about Wang and his story, his life might be in danger, but our hope is to bring this autobiography to the world stage and share it with the entire world at some point in the future.
