Office Letter from Poland

There is a different story behind every believer who decides to support the Underground House Church of China in fulfilling the Great Commission. This may seem quite obvious, but is there a pattern, or a cultural reason for whole bodies of believers in certain countries that draws them to the vision of Back to Jerusalem? I won’t speak for other nations, but I can say something on behalf of Poland.

Firstly, we understand what it means to be persecuted by a communist government. From 1944 till 1989, Poland was officially under communist rule directed by the CCCP. During those perilous times, the spirit of Polish Christians was under constant oppression—the goal of the rulers was simple: eradicate Christianity by altering the hearts of people and turning them from God to the common good (‘good’ was defined by the ruling party). So we can relate on the grounds of past suffering, and we are naturally filled with compassion towards Chinese brothers and sisters.

Secondly, we need help from the Underground House Church. After 1989, we discovered freedom and with this freedom and economical boom we discovered modern comfort. This led very quickly to a manifestation of division in the Body of Christ. We became proud, bragging on about our victory over the communists, celebrating the fall of the Berlin Wall and praising the Polish Pope for his impact on the fall of CCCP. Pride walks before a fall, and we have fallen.

The last revival in Poland happened in the 90’s and in less than 20 years hundreds of thousands of people previously desperate for God ended up deep in religiosity without relationship or knowing Jesus. So now we crave for the testimonies and wisdom from our brothers and sisters from the Underground, praying that it will reignite the spark that the Holy Spirit deposited in our hearts years ago.

It’s funny how the Body of Christ is connected and how the flow of support goes from one to another and how we are connected by and through the Holy Spirit. Whatever might be the secondary, cultural reasons that draw us to the Chinese believers, it is all for the glory of the King of Kings, until the day He comes back.

  1. Thank you for sharing this. It gives me better understanding. I love my fellow believers, no matter what country they hail from. May the Holy One of Israel pour out His Spirit equips, protect, undergird and provide for your every need. May others give their heart to the One who loved them first. Salvation for the lost. May the blind be set free with eyes to see truth. May the deception that has been embraced be undone. May Jesus be exalted and give you the outpouring of Holy Spirit in these last days. Shalom my friends.

  2. Amen to your prayer Brother Will. Freedom and an increase in living standards does come at a cost..not only in lives lost but in complacency about our spiritual security. We see this at a terrible peak in North America. We do not have the historical experience Poland has of being governed by Communist tyrants to give us warning about how a nation operates without Godly rule.

Our nations need God but only when terrible things happen do we seem to wake up to this fact.

We pray for the strength of Polish believers to fight the good fight, stay on track, and be the light needed to not only withstand the darkness but penetrate it, and that God will open the gates to a God-honoring revival in the hearts of men, women and children again.

    Amen
