Nigeria: Night Raids with More Villages Destroyed

Darkness again fell on Christian villages in eastern Nigeria as Fulani militants stormed four communities in Taraba State. At least ten believers were killed and dozens of homes were burned to the ground. Not a single armed soldier stepped in to prevent the slaughter. Hundreds of families ran for their lives into the bush. Scores of survivors are now cleaning up ashes and burying their dead.

We have seen this story play out too many times. The aim is clear: terrify Christians into fleeing their land. It is jihad on a village-by-village basis until there are no believers left.

Night after night, the answer for the Church has never been violence. Bombings might claim territory, but only the Gospel transforms the heart. Bombs breed vengeance; the Word of God silences it. Bombs ravage communities; the Gospel promises resurrection life. History has proven time and again that the kingdom of God is never spread by the sword, but by the faithful.

The persecuted Church of Nigeria knows this truth all too well. Despite burying family members and watching their homes burnt to the ground, Nigerian believers continue to serve Jesus with surrendered hearts. They are lifting up prayers for their enemies and refusing to turn from Gods promise no matter the cost.

That is why Bibles not Bombs is more than just a slogan. It is the life these brothers and sisters fight for each day through suffering and pain.
