Most major outlets are reporting that Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is set to become Iran’s supreme leader, but the reports might be missing some important details. According to Christian believers inside the country those reports may not be completely true for two important reasons.
First, no one wants to be the Supreme Leader right now, because it is a deadly proposition. Leaders are currently dropping like flies in Iran. The US and Israeli militaries are carrying out extremely accurate bombings and they are targeting top leadership.
Secondly, Mjotaba Khamenei has a lot to lose. His assets are in the billions and he has just allegedly transferred $328 million USD to Dubai. Some reports have found he transferred an additional $1.5 billion USD in the last two days.
He also has a family: wife Zahra Haddad-Adel and 3 children and 11 homes in London, including one $138 million London mansion.
Though the 56-year-old Mojtaba Khamenei is reportedly as radical as his father and has close ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, he has long remained unusually quiet and never held a formal government post, because he enjoys spending his money in foreign nations that do not rule with an Islamic iron fist. While he promotes the abuse of women in Iran who do not fully cover themselves, his wife and children enjoy the freedom of living as billionaires in London. While persecuting Christians in Iran, Mojtaba basks in the sunshine of Christian freedom provided by English forefathers in Britain.
So even if he has been selected as the Supreme Leader, there are no guarentees that he will stick around to fulfill the roles and duties.
