“It is very dangerous to be a Christian in Somalia,” Pastor James said (not his real name), “but we can see things getting a little better.”
Pastor James met with a BTJ team from China this week to discuss a project for the underground Bible school in Somalia. BTJ has been working with Pastor James for several years and this year there is additional support being provided for an underground fellowship.
“We currently have about 17 believers that we are training [at the center],” Pastor James shared, which is the largest number of known Christians meeting together in the entire nation. “I do not know how many secret believers are there, because they are secret, but if I were to take a guess, I would say there are less than 100 altogether in the entire country.”
Pastor James lives in Somalia, but his numbers do not include the more free area of the northern Somalia where things are more open.
BTJ spent several days together with Pastor James equipping him and his school with the tools they need to conduct underground ministry in the country. For security reasons, details of the projects cannot be released at this time.
One thing that is being provided for the believers in Somalia is a BTJ Black Phone, which is a special communication device developed by members of the BTJ Hacker Community. The BTJ Black Phone helps leaders in closed nations like Somalia to share information and data in a safe and secure manner.
Every year, BTJ hosts a BTJ Hacker’s conference. The next BTJ Hacker’s Conference will be in January 2025. Registration for the conference will close at the end of November.
