Ambassador Han Jae Song presented his credentials to the king of the Kingdom of Thailand on March 16 to become the new North Korean ambassador to Thailand this week.
The new North Korean ambassador conveyed greetings from Kim Jong Un to King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, but behind the scenes might be a secret that few people know.
As the new ambassador settles into to Thailand, the question comes how is North Korea going to support the embassy. North Korea is struggling to feed it’s own people since they closed the border in 2020 due to COVID-19. According to inside sources that have been working with North Korean embassies, there is a real problem with ambassador teams starving.
“I often bring food to the North Korean embassy,” admits one pastor working with Back to Jerusalem, who prefers to remain unnamed. “They can’t admit it, because it is a matter of national shame, but they don’t have any money to buy food and the embassy staff are literally starving to death.”
When asked if the embassy staff ask for the food, the pastor shook his head no. “They never ask for anything,” he said. “They are too proud, but when I bring food, they are also too desperate to refuse it.”
Bringing food to the North Korean embassy is not new for the pastor. He explained that over the years, he has gained the trust of the team at the North Korean embassy and is certain that the leaders in North Korea do not know they are accepting help.
Though it is true that this might not be possible with official North Korean representatives in nations like America, Korea, or other western countries, it is possible in nations where the pastor lives and might be the situation for the new ambassador to Thailand as well.
