2025 Has Been Called the Year of Jubilee

2025 has been declared a year of Jubilee.

For Jews, the year of Jubilee was celebrated once in 50 years, following seven cycles of seven sabbatical, years. It was a year when no agricultural work is to be done and the land is allowed to rest.

Leviticus 25:9-10 details it even more saying, “Then shall you cause the shofar to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, on Yom Kippur shall you sound the shofar throughout all your land. And you shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants; it shall be a jubilee for you.”

This verse of Jubilee is also inscribed on the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia.

The Catholics have declared the year 2025 as the year of Jubilee, the last one being celebrated in the year 2000. 2025 is “Spes non confundit” (Latin for “Hope does not disappoint” also called ‘Pilgrims of Hope.’)

Believers are encouraged to repent of their sins, forgive the sins of others, and to renew a focus on their walk with Christ. In the Hebrew tradition, as recorded in Leviticus, a Jubilee was celebrated every 50 years with the freeing of slaves and the forgiveness of debts.

  1. 2000 to 2025 is not 50 years. What gives?

Also to repent of sin we need to know what sin is specifically. Can you help?

    1. Hi friend, everything we need to know about sin is written in the Holy Bible. When we read it with open hearts God can convict us of sin and show us the way to live! If you do not own one, please let me know and I will be happy to send you one!

    2. the church changed it from every 50, to every 33 years (according to how long Jesus was alive, and then later to 25, so that all could at least experience one jubilee in their lifetime

      1. A Student Of YHWH'S Word

        Dear Sir,
Might I inquire where that is found in the Scriptures? I do find the Yahweh specifically said in Leviticus 25:8-34, that “there IS to be a Year of Jubilee every 50 years” HE even goes into great detail what that means and how it is to be observed.

You stated that “The Church” changed the Year of Jubilee
from Yahweh’s order of every 50 years to every 33 years based on the number of years Yeshua was alive (BTW… We have only a general idea how long Yeshua lived, no exacts) When you say “the church” are you specifically speaking of the Catholic church and it’s Papacy? You then claimed it changed again to ever 25 years. I would assume that to be the Catholic Papacy again?…

        My questions are these;
        • Who and why would anyone honor something not specified by Yahweh in His Word?
•What man or organization has been given the authority by Yahweh Himself to change that?

Popes, BTW, are NOT Yahweh and by no means have they been given the authority to overwrite or rewrite YAHWEH’S WORD. To my recollection, to donthis has ALWAYS been seen as a sin and an abomination. Anyone who spreads these untrue things needs to be very careful. No one has the right or authority to change Yahweh’s Word. NO ONE!

I would love to hear what you think give the facts listed above.

        1. Catholics are irrelevant since they make up their own religion (teach for doctrines the commandments of men). The article probably should not have mentioned their version of jubilee.

          1. Important distinction. The great counterfeit religion (Catholicism) continues to adopt portions of laws prescribed for a certain religion and people to try and legitimize their doctrines. How truly arrogant and deceptive. I am thankful I have eyes to see and ears to hear the truth.

    3. This is the lie…”. Repent of sins. “ The bible does not say that. The Gospel is childlike simple.” Metanoia” means to change your mind from unbelief to belief in the savior, Jesus Christ. When you believe in Him (Jesus was born of a virgin, fully God and fully man, died on the cross for ALL of your sins (past, present and future) . As soon as you believe this the Holy Spirit takes residence in you and you are eternally saved. You are fully sanctified and an heir in Christ. No need to go back to the law and “repent of sins”. We sin every day in thought and action. It would be impossible to repent of every evil thought. We are sinful until Jesus comes and changes our bodied to gloried ones. We’ve been made clean by the blood of the lamb.

      1. We need to get to know the word of God read the New Testament. There are many scriptures about forgiveness of sin. Jesus came to die for our sins on the cross, but it’s not automatic!!
we have to really be sorry and ask Jesus to forgive us, and he always will.
He does say,:I cannot forgive you unless you forgive everyone in your life first…
        Guess what Forgiveness is free.
Check out Matthew 18, verse 21 through 22
Also, check out Mark 11 vers 25
        May God bless you.

      2. It looks like haven’t read the book of acts my friend. You know the parts where it says over and over the words “ repent and be baptized “ I would suggest you read it for yourself. You will find that statement you made is incorrect.

      3. A Student Of YHWH'S Word

        Dear Miss,
I agree that when we accept Yeshua as our Lord and Savior, He dose then take up home in our hearts via the Holy Spirit. But please, please don’t misunderstand, ther is NO WHERE in the Word where it say that once saved always saved.

•Matthew 6:15 says but if you do not forgive others their offenses, your heavenly Father will not forgive yours.
•And Hebrews 10:26-27 says, For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. We need Yeshua’s grace every single day, true repentance, is that by which you turn from that sin and never do it again. We need grace to be saved but we can never abuse that grace.
        •Romans 6:15:
“So then, are we to say, “Let’s keep on sinning, so that there can be more grace?” Heaven forbid!”
This verse specifically questions whether one should continue to sin because grace is freely given. It clarifies that living under grace does not mean a license to sin, but rather a freedom from the law’s demands and a call to live a life of obedience.
        •Galatians 5:13:
For, brothers, you were called to be free. Only do not let that freedom become an excuse for allowing your old nature to have its way. Instead, serve one another in love. 15 but if you go on snapping at each other and tearing each other to pieces, watch out, or you will be destroyed by each other!
This verse warns against using freedom to indulge in the flesh, emphasizing that true freedom in Christ is not an excuse for sin but a call to serve God.
        •2 Peter 2:19:
They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption; for a person is slave to whatever has defeated him.
This verse warns against those who use freedom as a cover-up for evil, suggesting that abusing grace can lead to a person being exploited and enslaved by sin.
I understand what you are trying to poin out, based on Galatians 2:21: which states: I do not reject God’s gracious gift; for if the way in which one attains righteousness is through legalism, then the Messiah’s death was pointless.
But dear one, grace isn’t a get out jail free card. It’s for those who do their best to live a life reflecting Yeshua’s Spirit within them. Grace is for the times we slip up and repent for it. He’s ALWAYS willing to forgive, a person only need to ask.
We all need to be working out our faith with fear and trembling. Philippians 2:12-13.

        1. Just my 2 cents about the saved and on going sin. The pattern I believe is Justification/Sanctification/Glorification. The Justification is when we first believe and are sealed/Sanctification is the process of living with a body in decay but alive in Spirit. That battle will favor the Spirit as time passes but the battle continues until Glorification. I’m in the process of arming myself with the word of God and he’s allowing me the time because he loves me and he doesn’t see my sin he see Jesus on the cross dying for my sin.

      4. I agree about the simplicity of being sealed and saved. The act of faith or belief is the reality of the rebirth that happens to the believer. When your faith begins to overcome your fears the “lifting of the burdens” begins to happen. I’m 78 and in my personal experience it didn’t happen over night, so hang in there and like they say, keep the faith alive. The path gets narrower at the end of the trail but easier to follow.

    4. There are many sins. The first question is “are you saved?” If you haven’t prayed the sinners prayer and accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, I pray you do that first…. then get into your Bible.

    5. I don’t think it is particularly for a sin, but instead, is for all sin. To repent, turn away from, denounce ways that are not acceptable to God. I’m not Catholic, I am an evangelistic Christian. I don’t follow a religion, I follow Jesus. With being said, the Jewish Holy Days should also be observed in my humble opinion. However, the traditions, days of observance, Old Testament sacrifices (much different today) are hard for someone like me to know exactly what I’m supposed to do. There is no more animal/blood sacrifice because Jesus paid the ultimate Sacrifice as His Blood, (all of it, until only water was left within His body.) is our Salvation.

  2. sin= transgression of God’s law/commandments(10 commandments) and repentance means to turn away from breaking his commandments. Serve Him accept yahushua/christ as your savior and ask Him to give you His Holy Spirit to empower you to live a righteous, holy life before Him.

  3. Let us all rejoice and joyfully embrace this year 2025 as a year of Jubilee.
Let us all join hands and thank the Lord for this Jubilee year
Let’s love each and give thanks as we all over the world repent of our sins.
Please send me a text if you are looking for a christian friend who needs your love and understanding.
    Thank you all.

  4. It’s interesting to see both Jewish and Catholic traditions converging on 2025 as a year of Jubilee, highlighting themes of renewal and hope. How this will manifest remains to be seen.

    1. Hi friend, everything we need to know about sin is written in the Holy Bible. When we read it with open hearts God can convict us of sin and show us the way to live! If you do not own one, please let me know and I will be happy to send you one!

  5. This article offers a fascinating perspective on the significance of 2025 as a Jubilee year. The historical and biblical connections you’ve drawn are thought-provoking, especially the parallels between ancient traditions and modern implications. I particularly appreciate how you’ve balanced theological insights with practical applications for contemporary believers. The emphasis on restoration and renewal resonates deeply with current global challenges. This has given me much to reflect on regarding personal and collective spiritual renewal in the coming year.

  6. A Student Of YHWH'S Word

In 2028, the Jewish Sabbath (Shmita) will be in the Jewish year 5789, starting September 20, 2028. This is also known as the sabbatical year, and it’s part of a seven-year cycle of agricultural rest in Israel, with corresponding laws and restrictions on produce imported from Israel. Additionally, the laws of debt absolution are in effect during the Sabbatical year. The Jewish calendar year 5789 begins on September 20, 2028, and ends on September 9, 2029.

  7. The 2025 Jubilee’s focus on debt relief and land restoration powerfully echoes Leviticus 25, while Christ’s fulfillment in Luke 4 gives it transformative hope. This dual lens—economic justice and spiritual freedom—could redefine missions.

  8. If one accepts that Jesus began His ministry in the Jubilee year of 26 AD—and that Jubilee recurs every 50 years—then counting forward places 2026 as the 40th Jubilee since that momentous time.

My Story: A Child’s Prayer, Our Father’s Answer
I was kidnapped at 6 years old.
    Every night, I prayed:

Seven months later, when I turned 7,
Jesus brought me back home—in a Jubilee year.

Then the Lord spoke to me:

“I brought you home in a Jubilee year, and I will bring you home to Heaven in a Jubilee year.

    MY DREAM FROM THE LORD:
I was on my way home, and when I arrived at the steps to my family’s house, my Father greeted me at the top of the stairs. He said, Eliyahoo, I have someone who can’t wait to meet you, and I said Who is that? My father said, “JUBILEE, JUBILEE CAN’T WAIT TO MEET YOU.”

  9. The idea of a Jubilee year always struck me as such a powerful concept—a reset button for society, really. Whether it’s every 50 years or 25, the themes of forgiveness, debt relief, and renewal feel especially relevant right now. Interesting how both traditions are marking 2025 this way.
