My hands are frozen and shaking as I type this incident. This happened in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. After church, a few young Christian women were talking in the building. It was broad daylight, in a public place — right in front of the police. I don’t need to add anything of my own; I will simply translate the words of two victims who described exactly what happened to them.
1st Woman:
“We were sitting here after the meeting. The police came and were getting some information from us when suddenly 10–15 Hindu extremists came in, shouting their god’s name. We women told them they could not come in, and the police sent these men downstairs. But they waited there. As soon as we went downstairs, they started chanting their god’s name again, groping women, and pulling at our clothes. Some men put their hands on our breasts. They made obscene hand signals and offered us 200–300 rupees (less than $3) to sleep with them. I thought the Indian Constitution allowed us to practice any religion and that the law would protect us. But they were setting the price for our bodies right in front of police officers. We went to the police station to complain, but they refused to take our report.”
2nd Woman:
“These men asked my name. When I told them, they said, ‘Oh, you are from a low caste. People like you can sleep for 200–300 rupees. You would go anywhere for money.’ They said, ‘We will make this like Manipur’ — referring to the horrific 2023 incident where tribal women were paraded naked [in the street]. They told me, ‘We will strip you naked and rape you here.’” The Chhattisgarh Christian Forum President said after this incident: “Our civil rights have been taken away. Our women are not safe. Can the world be a silent spectator to the demise of democracy and the Constitution? Are the nations of the world truly helpless?”
This is happening right in front of our eyes in 2025. What should we, as Christians, do now? These are our sisters in Christ. If we read this article and stay silent, how different are we from the police officers who turned a blind eye to these victims? At the very least, can you prayerfully share this article with your group? This is not only a Christian problem — it is a violation of human rights. The more you pray, speak, and share, the more people will be awakened.
Apologies for the quality, but below are screenshots from the video showing the mob and the women later telling their story:

Thank you so much for sharing this horrific event. In addition thank you for sharing the photos, it gives us faces to see in our prayers. The Lord knows each heart there in India and has sent his only son to die for them. Oh Lord that you would soften hearts to hear and know your Son Jesus Christ! The only hope for the world! Convey our love and support to the believers there and assure them their struggle is not in vain but a hope is attached to it that those who persecute don’t know yet.
You’re absolutely right—silence is a form of complicity. As Christians, we’re called to pray, speak truth, and act justly.
