Where is Jesus in Iran?

Not many days go by without Iran making the headlines in the West. Iran is pushing itself to the forefront as a major military power, defending its interests in Syria and Yemen, at the expense of millions of desperate people trapped in these war zones. Since Iran is backed by Russia, there seems little the West can do to challenge Iran’s actions. Still, behind the scenes of these power games, there are millions of ordinary Iranians looking for change.

As believers, we are being given the privilege to peek past the headlines. Through reading the accounts of our bothers and sisters, we can understand more of the spiritual battle that is raging in Iran. For those willing to dig deeper than CNN, there are stories that give hope for the future. Because the Spirit of God is moving in this country.

Eugene Bach gathered some of these stories in a book called ‘Jesus in Iran’. One of our readers, Elizabeth Bell, sent us a review of this book which we would like to share with you. If you want to read the book for yourself, please click here!

Jesus in Iran is a brilliant account of Iran’s history as a Christian nation and chronicles events that have made it what it is today. Concurrently, an underground parallel of Christian persecution travels unseen up through this same history, from 1979 to the present.

Most people have no idea of the atrocities committed by the Iranian government, nor do they have a grasp on how many hearts have turned to Christ in recent years. Estimated numbers are in the millions. Scattered by persecution, their day-to-day struggle for fellowship and growth is very real.

Author Eugene Bach paints a brilliant picture of a country that has vastly remained mysterious to the rest of the world, and he gives very clear evidence of the great mystery “Christ in you, the hope of glory,” evidence that the Word of God is living and active inside believers facing tremendous legal and political restrictions.

Our great Hope radiates in the truth that laws, restrictions, and threats cannot and do not stop the Kingdom from coming to the millions who seek Him in Iran.
2 Timothy 2:8-9 (ESV) Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound!

Elizabeth Bell has a heart for the persecuted Church and loves to share stories of God’s faithfulness to His children. She has spent several years working in closed countries to further the advancement of the Gospel.
