THANKFUL: Nigerian Christian Families Celebrate After 50 Children Escape Islamic Captivity

Several families have a reason to be thankful today, as 50 children were able to escape from captivity this week after a brutal Islamic raid on a Christian school took more than 300 children hostage.

“As of Sunday, 23rd November 2025, we wish to inform the public that fifty (50) pupils who were previously abducted have successfully escaped and reunited with their parents,” Fr. Jatau Luka Joseph said in a statement earlier this week. “This encouraging development comes just days after bandits attacked our school and abducted a total of 315 individuals, comprising 289 pupils, 14 secondary school students, and 12 staff members.”

The young students were abducted from their school when armed Muslims conducted a raid last week.

As news outlets and Muslim leaders cry out that Christians are not being targeted because of their faith, they are purposefully ignoring events like these, where the school that these children were attending was not a Muslim school, but was specifically targeted because it was Christian.

Earlier this week, Muslims also launched an attack on a church in neighboring Kwara State. At least two people were killed and several worshippers, including the pastor, were abducted. Before that, 25 young girls were kidnapped from a Christian boarding school in Kebbi State.

These children are targeted for attacks and abduction because they are Christian. This is why BTJ is partnering with these believers for Christmas.

DISASTER RELIEF FOR NIGERIA

During this time, we are thankful for the 50 children who were able to escape and are back with their families. Do not forget the 250 young children or 25 young girls who remain in captivity.
