Pastor Shares about Christmas Mourning in Nigeria

Christmas is one of the most joyous times of the year, but for Christians in Nigeria, it is one of the most deadly.

A Nigerian pastor from the ‘Church of Christ to the Nations’ in the Plateau State shares from his village where Muslims have previously attacked on Christmas Eve. More than 150 Christians were slaughtered and their church was burned down.

“By the record that I collected, we had over 150 people that were killed in one day on the 24th of December,” the pastor solemnly shares outside of his home that was destroyed by Islamic attackers.

“What really happened here is not really in this village,” he explains in a video posted on X. “We were affected in 11 villages.” He goes on to share, “Christmas was not a Christmas to us to celebrate, it was a Christmas of mourning.”

This is not the first Christmas attack in Nigeria. This has been going on every single Christmas day for many years. Muslims specifically target Christians at Christmastime and Easter, because these are days when so many of them are gathered together.

That is why this year BTJ is partnering with Christians in Nigeria for Christmas.

‘Christmas in Nigeria’ will help to provide support and food to Christian families living in dangerous areas and a safe place to celebrate Christmas. To join this effort, please click the link below.
