At the Shenzhen Bao’an International airport, a Chinese missionary named Philip (not his real name) stood on the escalator as it carried him up towards the food court on the upper floor. Directly across from the escalators stands the big golden arches, glowing yellow for everyone to see.
Philip clung to the straps of his empty black backpack and walked past the two police officers quietly enjoying their lunch. He kept his head down, so as to not draw attention to himself. He took a seat at a table in a dark corner with his back to the two police officers and waited.
Philip was waiting on a very special delivery. Someone was bringing him $30,000 USD to start a secret Bible distribution center in North Korea. He had already found a location that would be able to facilitate the storage of BTJ Bibles. The Bibles have been specifically designed to be read in secret.
Finally, Philip saw the BTJ team member approaching and the money was handed over to him. He placed it inside his backpack, ready to smuggle into North Korea.
A small window of opportunity has opened for BTJ to smuggle Bibles into North Korea after many long years of waiting. It is not known how long this door will be open, so this year there is a huge push for us to get as many Bibles in as is possible.
