What: BTJ Vision-Casting Trip
Where: Northern Iraq
When: One week in Early Fall 2021
Why: To share the BTJ vision, meet workers on the field, and serve local people who are transitioning back into their villages from refugee camps
If you have any interest at all in Back to Jerusalem, you’ll want to join us in Northern Iraq this year! This is a fantastic opportunity to catch our vision, interact with local BTJ workers, and serve a people group who is in desperate need.
The Islamic State invaded Northern Iraq in 2014 and executed and abducted thousands of local residents. Those who were able to flee faced a daunting journey after being suddenly driven from their homes. Many of these people have lived for years in refugee camps and are just now returning to their villages. Sadly, many have become used to refugee camp living and have been handicapped by the system – as a result, they have no idea how to return to their homes and survive on their own. This fall, we will embark on a one-week journey to serve those who have been hit the hardest.
We will be providing food and other items they need to transition into living independently. Our goal is to encourage and help them as they begin to rebuild their lives and families. We want them to get established so they can continue to pursue avenues that will allow them to support themselves. God clearly has His hand on rebuilding their lives and we have great hope for their future!
The food we are providing will be purchased from a farm run by BTJ workers, so we will also be blessing them in the process. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to work with the returning refugees and get to know some of the local BTJ workers on the ground there. We can only guarantee one thing: you will never be the same! This could very well be the trip that causes you to return to your home, sell everything, and move to a country in the 10/40 window.
