Is the Revival in Iran Still Happening?

This is the month of Ramadan. Muslims believe that the Qur’an descended from heaven during this time, but if you understand its teachings, you know it rejects the core truths of Christianity. It denies the divinity of Jesus Christ, His crucifixion, and His resurrection.

At the same time, many Muslims are taught that Islam will one day rule the world. We often see propaganda claiming the West is converting, churches are being turned into mosques, or highlighting a few Western converts as “proof” that Islam is spreading everywhere.

As a former Muslim, this has always been very personal for me. It’s painful to watch people in the West persuaded by these narratives without understanding the reality of the religion or the systems built around it. A handful of converts are often used as poster figures, giving the impression that the whole world is embracing Islam.

For many years, hearing these claims brought grief to my heart, but how God works is beyond anything we can imagine. Reports from Iran reveal that about two-thirds of the population no longer believes in Islam. Allegedly, 50,000 mosques have closed in recent years. In 2025, videos circulated of mosques being burned, and many people are openly saying they want nothing to do with Islam.

The most incredible part is that many are not just leaving Islam—they are coming to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

For years, a quiet but powerful revival has been taking place inside Iran. Underground churches are growing as people encounter Jesus and choose to follow Him, even at great personal risk. Many travel to Turkey to be baptized in secret. You’ve probably heard about the harsh consequences faced by those arrested for following Christ.

Despite the risks, many believers continue to cry out to the Lord for deliverance, trusting that He will deliver them from oppression so they can worship freely. Since the death of Ayatollah Khamenei, their hope for freedom seems closer than ever. Many are still imprisoned or used as human shields, but they cling to the promise that their freedom is near.

Even so, they still live in physical bodies and need our help to survive.  Please continue to pray for the church in Iran.
