Church in Bhutan Raided by Police

There was a police raid on a house church in Bhutan this month, according to a report from a BTJ worker.

“One of our fellowships was raided this month,” Pastor Jabel (not his real name) said during a conference call. Pastor Jabel has not been able to call or send a message about the situation, because his phone is being closely monitored.

“Locals heard our fellowship singing and praying and they contacted the police,” Pastor Jabel said. All of the leaders were detained and interrogated by the police. “The police wanted to know all of the names of everyone involved, where they work, and who their leader was.”

Pastor Jabel has been on the run for the last couple of weeks. At the writing of this report, he has not been arrested.

BTJ has been working on an audio Bible in the Bhutanese language. It will be made available to all Christians in the spring of next year.
