“But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. ‘
Isaiah 43:18-19 (NLT)
I believe that this is a word from God to us. I don’t know what you’ve been experiencing. It is not a word only for those who are living bad days, but it is something new for those who are living good days too. Can you declare loudly it: “My Father is doing something new in my life.” Hallelujah! Let´s praise the Lord for what He has done in our lives. However, now God is doing something new. Something even better.
1 – FORGETTING WHAT HAPPENED; DON’T CONSIDER THE OLD THINGS
You can’t live verse 19 of Isaiah 43 until you apply verse 18. Before the “something new”, comes the “forget”. The first “forgetting” of our life happens when we are born again. Your past will never define your future. Your failure and your mistake of yesterday still do not define your future. Who defines your future is God’s “something new” in your life. When God was about to usher his people into a completely different place, never seen or imagined, from the desert to the holy land, to the garden, from hell to heaven, from fire to water, the old had to die in order for the new to happen. There’s a lot that God is making die in your life because it’s old and you don’t want to forget it, but He is doing it for your good, so that the new comes.
2 – WE GET STUCK IN THE PAST
Sometimes, our big problem is because we get stuck in the past, we get stuck in old experiences. Today, if you need to forgive someone, leave behind, abandon anger, ask the Holy Spirit to help you. I understand that some cases are very difficult to forgive, but the Holy Spirit helps you. This is not remembering past things. Many people still get stuck even in the things they experienced before they were believers. What the blood has blotted out has no memory before God. Before God, an attitude of faith is needed today, of praying, of saying: “Lord, I make the decision to forget. I make the decision to leave it behind, to forgive, to accept forgiveness, to accept that I am forgiven.” Do not remember past things.
3 – FOR I AM ABOUT TO DO SOMETHING NEW
Now I have faith to go into verse 19: “For I am about to do something new.” What’s this something new? The new thing is Christ, it is grace, it is God giving everything to those who do not deserve anything. It is righteousness that proceeds from Him by faith. It is victory in Him. It is abundant life. It is the Holy Spirit. It is the supernatural, spiritual, superior, powerful life. It is the fresh anointing, the supernatural ability, the oil of joy that comes from heaven and fills the heart, heals depression and lifts from the hole. That is the something new, in the first place, a heavenly joy, a new spirit, health, life, grace, favor, gospel. But it is also, yes, the new thing in your marriage, in your work, in the lives of your children. You will see the new of God.
God will make a way for his people. He will do it through the Holy Spirit, who moves day and night by the gospel. He is guiding your life, He will guide you. That’s a prophetic word for me, for you, for your home, for your church. It is, “There is a new river flowing in you.”
