Description
“I would not encourage anyone to seek persecution, but as Christians, we should never deny ourselves the privilege of traveling on the path of suffering. It is a difficult path–but a glorious one.” -Pastor Shen Xiaoming
Shen Xiaoming is the pastor and founder of one of the largest underground churches in China and tells his amazing story of survival in the latest book – KIDNAPPED BY A CULT
Pastor Shen is no stranger to persecution from China’s historically hostile government and time and again, Pastor Shen has experienced deprivation, disease, and imprisonment for the sake of the incredible spread of the gospel in rural central China.
But April 16, 2002, brought the persecution to a new level. Pastor Shen was kidnapped by the murderous Eastern Lightning cult after being lured into a supposed Bible conference. This dangerous cult believes that Christ returned in the form of a female Chinese leader, and they use force, torture, and indoctrination to gain followers. Yet again, Pastor Shen had to take a stand against evil. THIS IS HIS STORY!

structurally easy to read, short chapters if time is limited, with cliff hangers that keep you reading just one more…alternating past/present in an interesting way with just enough detail, avoiding unnecessary adjectives. Inspiring story of survival on all fronts, physical, emotional and spiritual, in spite of many difficulties trials and temptations. appreciated the candor and humility of spirit. incredibly insightful historically, as well as personally. highly recommend for pastors and missionaries and all who desire to live godly lives in Christ Jesus. Very encouraging!!

I love all of Eugene’s books and I love to read about the heroes and heroines of the faith in China. This is a thriller! It is always enlightening to see the world through the experience of others and this book helps you do just that. There are a handful of typos and sometimes I find the writing to feel a little too western. So, from at artist’s perspective, I am giving it four stars instead of five. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t think you should read it. I know you will be challenged and thrilled by this book.

This was an interesting read, each chapter alternating between the childhood story and the kidnapping. The setup was so elaborate and fooled so many people! The miracles that God performed in some of the stories are so amazing! The endurance of Christians in the midst of suffering is so humbling and encouraging!
