THE GOSPEL – IT STILL WORKS
One of our favorite Scripture verses is Matt. 24:14 because it speaks to us about when our Lord will return. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. NIV It helps us to stay on point: the great privilege of being on mission with our Heavenly Father. It is so easy to slip into the thinking that just because this “good news” has been firmly established in the West then we may expect our Lord’s return just because there is a “shaking” going.
But what about the people groups in the East and Middle East? Are they not among those for whom Christ has died? What must be done for the almost 4 billion people on planet earth who have yet to have the plan of salvation shared with them? Are we to ignore those in nations who make up the world’s poorest and the least evangelized? God forbid! So Matt. 24:14 not only tells us about when Jesus will come back but what our task (missions) is.
This welcome page is being written in late February so we have had a full year since the COVID 19 pandemic. How has this pandemic affected mission activity? It has had a tremendous affect due to major disruptions forcing many on the mission field to relocate or withdraw altogether. Traveling is very difficult. But during these times of increased anxiety, fear, and the failure of institutions and government to cope honestly with people, we are seeing a greater hunger for stability. People are searching for that which is real, true and just.
We believe we are at the threshold of one of the greatest opportunities given to us by showing that the Gospel still works! We have the “good news” to share and the power of God will back us up when we go all in by sharing His love with the lost, hurting and disillusioned.
Friends, may we embrace our Lord’s agenda as He turns things upside down, right side up; as He dispels the darkness as it collides with Light; as He reveals the hidden things pulling down strongholds as Jesus is lifted up. Yes, the Gospel still works…we just need to share it.
