Thousands are now in need of supplies after a massive earthquake hit Myanmar so hard that it was felt a thousand miles away in Thailand.
The 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit the heart of war-ravaged Myanmar today, triggering the collapse of buildings, bridges, and homes all across Myanmar, Thailand, and even felt as far north as Yunnan Province in China.
Thailand authorities have declared an “emergency zone” in the capital Bangkok. Videos posted online show people panicking and running from buildings as they collapse and plumes of dust fill the air.
BTJ currently has more missionaries in Myanmar than any other country. As of the writing of this article, none of them have reported injuries.
“We are safe, but the devastation is currently unknown,” reported one BTJ missionary. “We are currently helping get aid to those that are without a home tonight.”
BTJ is immediately sending aid to the missionaries on the ground in Myanmar. There is an immediate need for water, blankets, and food supplies.
