Three massive earthquakes have ripped through Afghanistan in only a matter of days. More than 2,000 people have been killed since the first earthquake last week.
BTJ has been rushing aid into Afghanistan to help the people, but more is needed.
“The earthquake has devastated our entire country,” one BTJ partner wrote in a text message from the front lines in Afghanistan. “Help is desperately needed.”
It truly feels like a plague of earthquakes with one hitting right after the other. Tremors are common after an earthquake, but each of these earthquakes are more deadly than the one prior. The Taliban has found themselves responding to one earthquake when another hits. The earlier quakes flattened entire villages in Kunar and Nangarhar provinces, leaving tens of thousands homeless.
Now, the focus for BTJ is to support our partners on the ground to get aid to the areas that have been hit the hardest.
