The Song of the Chinese Church: No One Can Complete the Great Commission Alone

During a Back to Jerusalem meeting in the Middle East this week, the true heart of the Chinese church for reaching the unreached people groups with the gospel was expressed mightily. During the meeting, a Chinese pastor started leading a song that all of the Chinese started to sing. The song was named, One Man Cannot Accomplish the Great Commission Alone. The pastor then translated the Chinese song into English.
“The grass will never complain about the barren land, it can take deep roots there.
The river will not complain about the high mountains, it will nourish the land even when it is going around it.
Hold on to every encounter with the Lord in your life; that will be the most beautiful gift, the best harvest for your life.
The laughter of my childhood, the fun of my teenage years has gone, and today we are at this age.
Let us love each other in truth and spirit, not in empty words, and let the heavy burdens on our hearts pass away.
Let us ask the Lord for a wide heart and a clear mind.
Until the ends of the earth, to the ends of the nations, we are walking and serving together;
For no one can accomplish the Great Commission alone.”
How truthful is the last line – that we are walking together? For no one can accomplish the Great Commission alone! He calls us to advance the gospel as His body, so let us not be afraid to shout out loud the victory of our Messiah. As it says in Isaiah 40, “Surely the people are grass! The grass dries up, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand forever.”.
We are grass, so let us find a barren ground where the gospel seeds can take deep root.
