At the National Prayer Breakfast this week, President Donald Trump stopped sharing from prepared remarks and shared about the persecution of Mariam Ibrahim, a story that is captured in the Back to Jerusalem book “SHACKLED.”
The President took a moment to share how Mariam was sentenced to 100 lashes and death by hanging for refusing to deny her faith.
“Believers all over the planet rallied to Mariam’s cause, prayed for her protection, and successfully pressured for her release,” he said during his speech on Thursday.
The President also shared about Mariam’s daughter, Maya, who was born outside on the prison courtyard while Mariam was still in shackles. Maya’s birth was miraculous, because according to the mid-wife who was present in the prison on the night that Maya was born, Mariam actually died during labor, but came back to life.
Few leaders in the world stop to recognize the persecution of believers like Mariam in Muslim nations. We are thankful that so many officials and diplomats came together on Thursday of this week during the National Prayer Breakfast to recognize the amazing testimony of Mariam.
