Prayer Partners from Around World Join BTJ in Bhutan to Preach in Villages and Secretly Handout Bibles

BTJ prayer partners traveled to a nation with zero registered churches – the nation of Bhutan. During their time, they handed out secret audio Bibles in small villages throughout the country on the latest BTJ vision trip, named the BTJ WALK THE TALK TOUR.

Every year, BTJ hosts a vision trip to allow supporters to see how BTJ operates on the ground. Everyone is invited!  Reading about the work of BTJ missionaries is one thing, but seeing it play out in person is a completely different experience.

“We are so thankful for the visitors from around the world that came to visit us in our nation of Bhutan,” one pastor said, who cannot be named for security reasons. “These audio Bibles are a huge blessing to our people.”

BTJ prayer partners were able to hand out audio Bibles, as well as attend underground house church services and see first-hand what BTJ is doing in Bhutan. There was also several days of ministry opportunities, as BTJ prayer partners hiked from village to village in the most remote areas of Bhutan, praying for the sick, lame, deaf, mute, and even sharing the Gospel message with former Buddhist monks.

The BTJ audio bible is a unique device created at the BTJ Hackers Conference. The audio Bible for Bhutan was recorded in the Dzongkha language in a secret studio in Bhutan. BTJ supporters were able to go and see the studio and help assemble some of the audio Bibles.

Bhutan is one of the few nations in the world today with no registered churches. It is one of the most unreached nations with more than 99% of the people being Buddhists and of the few Christians who secretly live in Bhutan today, the overwhelming majority of them are of Nepalese decent.

The government of Bhutan only recognizes Buddhism as the official religion and, though they claim to provide freedom of religion for their people and ban discrimination based on religious belief, Christians are persecuted for their faith and sometimes even stripped of their nationality if it is discovered they have converted to Christianity.

BTJ has helped plant several secret church fellowships in Bhutan and this year will be supporting the planting of more.

Next year, BTJ plans to do a vision trip to Tibet.  More information will be made available about that trip in the fall of 2025.
