Pastor Ezra Jin Meets with Senator Ted Cruz and Sends a Message to China

Pastor Ezra Jin met with US Senator Ted Cruz yesterday for the first time since his release and is speaking out about the house church Christians who are still imprisoned.

Chinese house church Pastor, Ezra Jin, was unexpectedly released earlier this month following 266 days in prison. His case brought the attention of President Trump and was brought up during a high profile meeting between President Trump and President Xi Jinping.

Senator Cruz said that he and other senators passed a resolution calling for his release. “The Chinese Communist Party fears what it cannot control, perhaps most of all, [they fear] faith in God,” he said.

Pastor Ezra Jin is a pastor connected to Beijing’s Zion Church, as well as the author of a book about the movement of Back to Jerusalem. He was imprisoned and tortured for his faith in China.

Senator Cruz thanked God for Jin’s freedom and sent a message to Christians still persecuted in China, “You are not forgotten. We will continue speaking.”

For believers in China, the words of Senator Cruz are both encouraging and urgent. Pastor Jin is free, but many Christians in China still need prayer, courage, and international attention.
