According to a report by China Aid, Pastor Yingjie and his wife, Wang Ying, were arrested last week in Taiyuan City in Shaanxi Province. The arrest comes on the heels of a detention decision issued on April 3, 2022.
On April 3, 2022, Taiyuan Xuncheng Reformed Church was raided during a Sunday morning service. Police arrested seven Christians during the raid where they were afterwards handcuffed to stakes in the ground, stools, and intimidated to sign confessions promising to never attend the “illegal worship service again.” They all refused to sign the paper.
After their release, court dates were set for the following charges. Pastor Wang Yingjie and his wife Wang Ying’s detention was postponed for more than 1 year while they awaited trial.
Pastor Wang’s church has suffered greatly from refusing to join the government’s Three-Self Church and register their members.
BTJ is praying together with the pastor, his wife and the members of their fellowship.
