Nigerian Foreign Minister Claims Only 177 Nigerian Christians Killed—“SHAME On Him For LYING”

Piers Morgan, who currently has one of the fastest growing YouTube shows in the world, hosted a debate on the Christian persecution in Nigeria.

He brought on the Nigerian Foreign Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, and demanded answers. What followed was revealing, but likely not in the way Tuggar had hoped.

Piers Morgan asked, “If somewhere between 50,000 and 100,000 Christians have been murdered in Nigeria since 2009 . . . and 18,000 churches destroyed, isn’t it . . . a genocide against Christians?”

The response was baffling. Tuggar shot back, “First of all those figures are totally inaccurate and false,” even accusing sources like Open Doors of releasing false information. He goes on to blame several geopolitical factors for the civil violence and brutality taking place in Nigeria.

After a few minutes of incoherent rambling, Morgan interrupted, “So if it’s not 100,000 Christians killed and 18,000 churches burned, how many is it?”

Yusuf Tuggar claimed it is impossible to identify what religion people belong to when they are killed—they are viewed only as Nigerian. Morgan accuses him of avoiding the question, at which point the foreign minister became visibly combative. Since the minister claimed it was impossible to know the number of Christians murdered, Morgan then asked if he knew how many churches had been destroyed.

His answer: “Yes, I do. Over the last 2 years there have been 52 churches depending on which region you are referring to . . . in the last 5 years, attacks, not destroyed, 102. So we are not hiding figures.”

At this stage, Morgan brings in former Canadian MP, Goldie Ghamari.

Visibly angered, she fires back, “Lets not forget in 2013, almost 300 Christian schoolgirls were kidnapped by these islamic militants. 80 of them, their whereabouts are still unknown. What is happening in Nigeria is jihad.”

In a dizzying twist of events, the foreign minister suddenly decides he now knows the precise numbers of Christians murdered, despite previously claiming this number was impossible to know. He says, “How many Christians have been murdered over the last 5 years? 177 Christians have been killed . . . number injured 98, number abducted 7.”

An appalling and shockingly brazen lie. It is not clear if the foreign minister believes his own lies, or if he is knowingly attempting to mislead the western world.

Finally, Morgan brings on Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, who has become well-known in recent weeks after a video of him giving a speech beside the shallow grave of murdered Christians went viral.

“All Nigerian Christians have been in bondage right from 2021 . . . there was an organised massacre that went across every place in the nation of Nigeria. The media here are downplaying things for themselves. This is where we are in trouble. I have performed several genocide burials. More than 70 times. Imagine some of the graves are 501 people killed in one night. The Nigerian government downplayed this, because the islamists are controlling the government.”

He talked of one instance that was never shared on Nigerian media—jihadists gathered people inside a church and those surrounding the church and locked them inside. “They poured gasoline on the church and set the building on fire with the Christians locked inside.”

The Reverend’s stories were validated by the comments left under the full video on YouTube.

One read: I’m Nigerian and I live in Nigeria. This foreign minister is a liar and a joker. Christians are being slaughtered in the north and middle belt of Nigeria. It’s the truth!

Another said: 177 christians killed? I am a Nigerian and I can tell you that the minister is a liar.

And a third: I’m Nigerian from Bauchi State, the same as the Ambassador. He’s lied from the start to the end of the interview. We’ve lost more Christians in his state alone in one year than the hundred-plus figures he claims over five years.
