Major European airlines have canceled flights to all the main hubs in the Middle East, signaling a major clash with Iran might be imminent.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Air France, British Airways, Lufthansa, and Swiss International Air Lines all suspended operations to Tel Aviv, Dubai, Riyadh, and Qatar. Canada and the US have also announced this morning disruptions in their flights to the Middle East. The cancellations began late last night after President Trump departed the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where he met with major allies for private meetings.
Among other things, the situation in Iran was one of the major topics discussed in Davos.
Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, has sounded the alarm early saying Israel might have an intent to launch military action against Tehran. “I hope they find a different path, but the reality is that Israel, in particular, is looking for an opportunity to strike Iran.” When asked whether the United States might join the possible strike, Fidan clarified that Israel specifically was seeking such an opportunity to launch military actions.
Both the US and the UK have announced that they are beefing up their capabilities in the region for a possible conflict as the death tolls of Iranian protestors continue to rise.
