The Italian Parliament, (Camera dei deputati), listened to the testimony of Shagufta Kauser, as she highlighted the grave human rights abuses taking place against Christians in Pakistan.
The event, organized by Jubilee Campaign (Netherlands) and Association of Pakistani Christians in Italy, called on the international community, European Parliamentarians, and particularly Italian legislators to use their diplomatic influence to advocate for the voiceless Christians living in daily persecution.
Shagufta Kausar shared her testimony of how she was offered, multiple times, to adopt Islam to avoid punishment and how she was sentenced to death after she refused to abandon her faith in Christ.
“Christians in Pakistan are like sheep among wolves without a protector,” she said. Kausar also expressed her gratitude to Lorenzo Malagola and Professor Shahid Mobeen for organizing the press conference, allowing her to share her testimony of eight years in prison because of her faith.
Her story can be found in the brand new book, “Under the Threat of Death” available now at Back to Jerusalem.
Shagufta will be traveling to the United States to share her story for the very first time at the BTJ Voices of the Persecuted Conference in October 2024. More information on that conference can be found here.
