FINALLY! News From China that Christian Missionaries Have Been Waiting For!

Today is the good news that missionaries to China have been waiting for! After almost three years of relentless rules and restricted travel, China is finally dropping its quarantine requirements for all passengers starting on January 8, 2023. This is a major breakthrough coming only a few weeks after massive protests over unending lockdowns and quarantines in China.
China is finally scrapping all of their restrictive Covid measures for travelers, including contact tracing and quarantines for positive patients.
For the last three years, foreign missionaries to China have not been able to leave the country. If they left, they knew that they would not be able to return. Some missionaries left and have been patiently waiting outside, while other have chosen not to leave and have not seen their families, friends or supporters for three years.
BTJ will be testing the new rules and reporting back to supporters about the details of the new travel policies. The new rules will come into play only two weeks prior to Chinese New Year – which is the largest period of travel in the world for the entire year.

Fantastic news. I assume the networks will now have fewer problems transferring people to the less reached parts of China. I pray that they will find ways to securely finance their missionaries as well.
I’m not so quick to rejoice. Maybe this is a repeat of 2020. China has a new virus…time to open all borders ..
