Eight Major Signs that Islamic Government of Iran is about to Collapse

BTJ missionaries are taking the advice of their leaders and moving out of Tehran. The city has grown too dangerous to stay after Israel launched attacks last week.

For almost half a century, Islamic extremists have held a tight grip on the nation of Iran. Christians have been one of the main targets of the Ayatollahs and persecution against believers has been relentless. For decades, Christians have been praying for the persecuted house church in Iran and it looks like there might be some major changes coming.

For the first time, it looks like there is a real chance that the Iranian regime that has ruled Iran with an iron fist might be about to collapse.

There are EIGHT MAJOR SIGNS that the Iranian regime is in serious trouble and could be on the verge of collapse:

  1. Iran’s leadership has been wiped out

First and foremost, Israel ran one of the most successful targeted attacks on Iran’s military, intelligence, and nuclear scientists in the history of modern warfare. Israel’s ‘beeper’ attack carried out on Hezbollah leaders last year in Lebanon seemed to be incredible, but nothing prepared the world for the laser-like attack on Iran’s top leaders last week where Iran’s deputy commander, commander of the Iranian Army, commander of the Iranian guard, head of airspace unit, commander and deputy commander of operations for the armed forces, commander of air defense, deputy commander of intelligence, head of intelligence for the Republican guard, the commander in chief, Iran’s second highest commander after Supreme Leader and the deputy commander were all killed in the first few hours of Israel’s strike!

  1. Iran no longer controls the skies above their country

At the writing of this article, Iran no longer has control over their own skies. The Iranian air force is leaderless and helpless against providing any resistance to the Israeli fighter jets that can bomb at any time or place of their choosing. No country can adequately defend their leadership if they do not have control over their own skies.

  1. Iran’s leader has no trusted advisors

The Ayatollah only has a few trusted leaders that he communicates through. Now almost all of them are dead, leaving him almost no one to turn to.

  1. Iran’s leader is old, weak and feeble

The Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini is 86 years old. He is too old, weak, and feeble to be running from safe house to safe house without access to medical attention. His ability to lead the nation is severely hampered by his age and health and there isn’t currently anyone in line to take his place, leaving a serious vacuum in leadership.

  1. Iran’s proxies have been decimated

Iran’s ability to counterattack Israel has been severely weakened by Israel’s systematic dismantling of Iran’s proxies. Iran has been attacking Israel for years through their puppet armies, but since the terrorist attack by Hamas, Israel has had free license to face the threats head on, attacking and destroying the capabilities of Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.

And instead of using proxies against Iran, Israel decided to go toe-to-toe in stopping Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

  1. Iran’s economy is belly-up

Before the election in the US last year, Iran was given access to a lot of cash, but they used much of it to fund a proxy war against Israel, hoping that the election in the US would go their way and depending on investments from Russia and China.

China has been one of Iran’s biggest customers, with almost half a trillion in promised investments, but now all of that has changed. Money has stopped, sanctions have been tightened, and trade lines have been realigned against Iran, leaving their economy in free fall.

  1. Iran has no friends

One of the most surprising turn of events has been the eery silence of the Muslim world condemning Israel’s attacks. The most wealthy Arab states have all signed new trade agreements with America and seem to be in the mood to make money, not war. Nations like Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and the UAE have seen Iran’s antics as a nuisance and a threat to stability in the region.

In addition to that, with the revelation that Israel smuggled weapons directly into Iran, the question is now – which one of Iran’s neighbors betrayed them. Turkey? Armenia? Iraq? Azerbaijan? Because, more than likely, the Israelis made a deal with a neighboring country to look the other way as they smuggled in weapons by land to aid the attacks last week.

Russia and China both have a lot to lose with the fall of Iran, but they might have even more to lose if they get involved, so for the moment, their condemnation has been little more than a whisper.

  1. Iran is fighting a war without and within

This is the most important point, because not only are Iran’s military ground capabilities to strike back against Israel seriously hampered, but their ability to stave off an overthrow is weaker than ever.

Iranians are taking to the streets as Israel continues to launch strikes against Iran, but it is not for the reasons that you think.

Videos are being posted from inside Iran showing Iranians rejoicing at the attacks. This might seem odd at first to see citizens celebrate attacks on their own nation, but what most of the world does not know is that Iranians feel like prisoners in their own country. Unrest has been bubbling up for years.

Last month alone, in May 2025 at least 493 protests were recorded in Iran spanning cities and towns across the country! These demonstrations reflect widespread frustration across different segments of society—including women, truck drivers, retirees, bakers, workers, educators, farmers, and more.

Today, many Iranians see themselves as prisoners. Few have been persecuted more than Iran’s Christians. This is evidenced through the Iranian regime’s torture of one of their own, Brother Abdull, who was a grandson of an ayatollah and gave his life in jihad fighting for the nation of Iran. When he made a decision to give his life to Jesus, he was brutally tortured and sentenced to death. His amazing testimony can be found in the book JIHAD: THE DAY I DIED available on Amazon.

Details about how Iranians are experiencing the world’s largest revival in the Islamic world can be found in BTJ’s newest book JESUS IN IRAN.
