Christian Mother of 4 Survives Death Row After Being Accused of Saying Bad Things About Muhammad

Sitting in a small, cramped apartment in western Europe last year, I sat across from Shagufta Kauser drinking tea. She had only been out of prison for a few months and was still getting used to life outside of death row and she was holding a secret that Pakistan did not want the world to know.

Shagufta is a Pakistani Christian and mother of four who was put on death row for one single (and unproven) accusation – sending a text that said bad things about Islam.

Pakistan threatens any Christian that “defiles the Quran or the Prophet Muhammad” with death or life imprisonment. In the last 30 years, more than 1,865 people have been charged with blasphemy, most of them jailed for years. If the government doesn’t get you, then the mobs will.

I have been closely following Shagufta’s dramatic story in the news for years, because I know that Shagufta’s story is a warning to the nations that are convinced to enact ‘hate speech’ laws that are currently being led by the United Nations.

Pakistan has been leading an effort for many years to get free nations to restrict their freedom of speech. Pakistan, just like every Islamic nation has anti-blasphemy laws that protect Islam from being questioned.

Shagufta didn’t send the text that she was accused of, but if she did – if she sent a text saying bad things about Islam – would it be enough to kill this mother of four? The current government thinks so and it is why Shagufta spent eight years on death row.

For the first time ever, Shagufta shares her personal story so that you can see, through her eyes, what it is like to be a Christian today in Pakistan. The reality is certain to shock you.

Under Threat of Death

Dr. Eugene Bach is a known trouble-maker with an active imagination and sinful past. He has a PhD, but is not a real doctor, so please do not call for him during a medical emergency on an airplane when someone is having a heart attack. Eugene started working for Back to Jerusalem in the year 2000 after a backroom deal involving Chinese spies, the NRA, Swiss bankers, and a small group of Apostolic Christians that only baptize in Jesus’ name. He spends most of his time in closed countries attempting to topple governments by proclaiming the name of Jesus and not taking showers. From time-to-time he pretends to be a writer. He is not good at it, but everyone around him tries to humor him.
