Nigerian Christians have been experiencing a silent genocide for several years that western media outlets have refused to talk about. The ongoing crisis has seen thousands of Christians killed annually by jihadist groups, particularly Fulani militias, with over 50,000 to 100,000 Christians reported killed since 2009.
These attacks involve church bombings, kidnapping of young Christian girls, mass slaughter, and village raids by Islamic killers. However, it is hard to turn your head when a grieving Christian mother shares her personal story of the day Muslims came into her home and slaughtered her small children.
“They seized my baby and sliced him in two with a knife,” she says, trying to fight through the tears. “My second child woke up… They split his head with a machete.”
Christians are being massacred by Muslims in the most horrifying manner and fellow believers can no longer remain silent. These kind of videos are horrible to watch, but they are the reality of what is taking place. It is not appropriate to sweep these kind of atrocities under the rug.
Christians around the world must stand up for the persecuted church in Nigeria by sharing their stories, remembering them in prayer and putting political pressure on western governments to acknowledge what Christians are going through every single day.
