BTJ is used to seeing blocked access to online content in China, but this week we saw one of our most read articles blocked on YouTube.
YouTube can censor links to content for a variety of reasons – to shield children from obscene content, to prevent access to copyright-infringing material, or to protect national security, but in the case of BTJ’s latest article about the slaughter of Christians, it is feared that the reasons are to repress true information on Islam.
Last week, more than 1,000 people from minority groups, including Christians, were paraded through streets, tortured, and slaughtered in Syria in one of the deadliest attacks by the radical Muslims leaders since the overthrowing of longtime President Bashar al-Assad three months ago.
When radical Muslims overthrew President Bashar al-Assad, many in the mainstream media tried to give it a positive twist as seen in the video below.
Reports like the one above by the BBC makes it confusing for Christians to clearly understand what is happening when they hear that more than 1,000 people, including Christians, Alawites, and Kurds, were slaughtered.
Why is it confusing? Because most attempts to tell the truth about the source of the violence is blocked in western media. Islamic nations like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the UAE invest heavily in government initiatives, business capital, media, and even sports and entertainment. This has created a very large conflict of interest and thus led to suppression of information.
