One of the biggest killers of babies and their mothers is neonatal mortality.
Women giving birth in less developed countries are, on average, at a greater risk of death due to pregnancy. Globally, approximately 800 women die due to avoidable complications arising from pregnancy and childbirth every day. In 2019, approximately one million newborns died within the first 24 hours, and 75% of neonatal deaths occurred during the first week of life.
Research has found that the top ten countries with the highest number of newborn deaths are India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, China, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and the United Republic of Tanzania.
Infection is one of the leading causes for both maternal and neonatal deaths. Therefore, provision of clean, safe delivery is the first step to eliminate infection and prevent a significant proportion of these deaths.
This is why BTJ has developed special delivery kits tailored to directly meet the needs faced by the pregnant women giving birth in less developed countries. These simple but effective BTJ Delivery Kits help minimize risks and complications impacting the lives of both mother and infant.
This week, BTJ’s Delivery Kits arrived in Africa to help one of the poorest areas. For security reasons, the exact location of the efforts cannot be disclosed.
