BTJ Prayer Guide for Syria: Day 13

Damascus Steel
There is a legend that comes from Syria that has spread throughout the earth. It is a legend that appeals to men of war and hunters alike. The legend is rooted in truth, but holds secrets that have long been forgotten.
The legend of Damascus steel has circled the globe many times over. A single human hair that fell on the blade of a Damascus steel forged sword would easily be sliced in two. The steel barrel of a gun could be sliced with one swoop of a Syrian sword.
The steel is unique in that it was forged from ingots of Wootz steel. Swords made from this steel are characterized by distinctive patterns of banding and mottling reminiscent of flowing water or teardrop pattern.
Swords made from Damascus steel are said to be the toughest in the world. Resistant to breaking, shattering, and capable of having the sharpest most resilient edge. Simply put there isn’t any other steel in the world like it.
In many ways Syria is like a tempered steel sword that has been heated in the flames of hot coals and then thrown into cool water and then again back into the flames.
The forging process of Syria in the fiery kiln melted away the impurities. The people were shaped by pressure, flattened by the hammer of war, and sharpened through trial and tribulation.
Perhaps a day is coming when the sword of Syria will be straightened again and it will at last be plunged into the refreshing waters of salvation and in those days become a weapon to be used against the world in the hands of the Lord.
Prayer
Pray that Syria’s days of forging are coming to an end and the day of use in the hands of the Lord will come swiftly.
Scripture
“Behold, I have created the blacksmith Who blows the coals in the fire, Who brings forth an instrument for his work; And I have created the spoiler to destroy. No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me, “Says the LORD.
