On the evening of May 16, 2025, police in Xi’an, China, launched a raid to arrest 10 pastors and church workers of Zion’s Light Church.
Pastor Gao Quanfu, a 68-year-old pastor and Back to Jerusalem historian, was arrested with other church leaders, including Pastor Jiao Yong, Pastor Tang Bingyi, Elder Wang Yibo, Evangelist Guo Ru, Evangelist Liu Ce, sisters Li Qing and Du Juan, Sister Zheng and 77-year-old Aunt Lian.
Pastor Gao Quanfu is known for his vision of preaching the Gospel all the way back to Jerusalem. He made two BTJ documentaries, “From Xi’an to Zion” and “History of the Northwest Spiritual Workers Group,” which told the history of the Back to Jerusalem movement.
The Chinese government is rejecting access to legal counsel for any of the Christians workers on the basis of “national security.” Two of the female prisoners are missing and their whereabouts is currently unknown.
