A Senior Iranian cleric admitted that Iran has had to close around 50,000 mosques!
Recent reports coming from a comment made by cleric Mohammad Abolghassem Doulabi, a liaison between President Ebrahim Raisi’s administration and Iran’s Islamic seminaries, is a “worrying admission” for a nation founded on Islam.
The closure of 50,000 mosques out of Iran’s total 75,000 mosques is a serious blow to Islam. Publicly, the Iranian leadership is claiming that this is due to financial difficulties following the economic hardship following the Covid-19 pandemic. However, there are other serious factors at play here.
The massive protests in recent years and open defiance of Islamic regulations for females show that there is a great dissatisfaction with the draconian religion of Islam in Iran. Young people simply do not feel connected to the colonial religion that has been forced on them.
In addition to that is a massive revival that has been taking place in Iran for the last two decades. So many young people have turned to Christ in Iran and continue to do so. BTJ has been supporting the printing of Bibles, training of leadership, and most recently supporting Iranian missionaries as they leave out to unreached nations in the region.
At a time when Iran is launching a physical war on Israel, no one saw the spiritual war that Iran is losing at home.
