A young Christian man forced to work on a Muslim farm in Pakistan was found dead with his body hanging in a barn.
Marqas Masih, 22, was found hanged at the farm where he worked, near the Punjab city of Sargodha. Family members claim that the persecution against Christians on the farm by the Muslim owner was intense. They say they witnessed Mr. Masih endure anti-Christian hate speech, including the use of ‘Chura’, a derogatory word meaning filthy often used against Churchgoers. Masih was the only Christian labourer who worked there, making the persecution against him targeted.
The Muslim farm owner claimed that Mr. Masih hung himself, but an autopsy report shows that Mr. Masih endured a severe beating before he was hung, ruling out death by suicide. Following the investigation, Muhammad Bashrat, the farm owner and another man, Mohammad Moshan have been arrested, but there is a fear that they will walk away without any punishment as often happens in Pakistan regarding these kind of persecution cases.
The death of the young Pakistani Christian has rallied many of the nations Christians together to condemn the continued persecution against Christians.
