Christmas Prayer Requests
Christmas greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! As we enter this wonderful season of the year, we want to share with you some prayer requests from the underground church in China. Through all seasons they diligently spread the miracle we celebrate most specifically at this time of year. When the angel was imparting the coming events to Mary of her virgin pregnancy and the subsequent birth of her son the Christ, her obedience was a remarkable testimony to her faith.
We pray that Mary’s simple response will echo in our hearts and yours this Christmas season, as it does in the hearts of the BTJ workers: “Behold I am the servant of the Lord: let it be to me according to your word” (Luke 1:38). The impossible was about to happen to this very young woman, but in the words of the messenger angel that same night, “…nothing will be impossible with God” (Luke 1:37). That same promise is carried in the hearts of the BTJ missionaries to the many nations within the BTJ vision.
As many of you know, we receive prayer requests directly from the leadership of the underground house-church networks. We pray you will understand that these requests are kept deliberately vague to protect the people and places involved in the work. Our Lord, in His infinite wisdom, knows the prayers of the hearts of believers and we ask that you include the requests that follow in your daily prayers.
Several BTJ missionaries have gone out recently into various nations, many of which are hostile to the gospel. Specifically we think of a BTJ missionary couple who recently moved to a well-known mountain region. These remarkable missionaries set immediately to the task and within 12 hours of their arrival to that region, had already led one person to Christ.
We also pray for BTJ workers in a particular Middle Eastern country frequently in the news. This is a dangerous region and we pray for the Lord’s protection and continued effectiveness for His Kingdom purposes. The new believers in these and another highly closed country are coming to the Lord almost daily and need the prayers of the faithful. The life of a believer is very difficult in this nation, which is particularly hostile to the gospel. We pray that the Lord’s hand will be upon them and protect them as they grow in their faith.
We ask that you lift up all the BTJ missionaries currently in language training. They are diligently studying many difficult languages and we pray that they will be able to learn them quickly and effectively for work in the mission field.
(Christmas Prayer Requests continued...)
Praise the Lord for 15 new BTJ workers that have recently arrived in one of the Arabic nations and lift them up as they study the Arabic language and culture. Among them is a young couple with a new baby boy. They have just finished their language studies in that same country and are now looking for ways to start to minister to the local people. There is also great work being done in these areas by various BTJ Media ministry partners. The Lord has blessed these ministries with the gift of the latest technology which they are using to reach millions of people in the Arabic speaking world every month.
Bless you all for joining with us in prayer and petition for these workers. We extend our warmest greetings to you this season as we celebrate the birth of our King!
